How to install AutoCAD Plant 3D 2016 Ext1 silently.

A. Download AutoCAD Plant 3D Ext1 from your Autodesk account portal and extract msp files from it.

AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x64.exe /e AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x64.msp

Note: this will give you 3 msp files:

AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x641.msp
AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x642.msp
AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x643.msp

B. Now you can install each msp file as follows:

msiexec /update AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x641.msp /quiet /log 1.log
msiexec /update AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x642.msp /quiet /log 2.log
msiexec /update AutoCAD_Plant_3D_2016_Ext1_x643.msp /quiet /log 3.log

Unable to install Map 3D 2016 Service Pack 1 through SCCM.

Following workaround might not be feasible in all instances ,especially if you are pushing the updates through SCCM or other software delivery/deployment tools.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-map-3d/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Unable-to-install-Map-2016-Service-Pack-1.html

Reason for the error is one of the .MSP file which included in the .exe file is Hotfix 3 for AutoCAD 2016. This can’t be installed on AutoCAD 2016 Sp1.

If you extract .MSP files from the exe with the following command line, you will find 2 .MSP files.

Map3D2016_x64_Sp1.exe /e Map3D2016_x64_Sp1.MSP

Map3d

Only second file needs to be applied to Map 3D 2016.

Msiexec /p Map3D2016_x64_Sp1.MSP /q

Note:/q is important for the above command line, else you might get following error.

Similar workaround might be required for Civil 3D 2016 Service pack 1 as well.

Civil 3D 2016 deployment through SCCM and missing HHApps, Subassemeblies

Some functionality within Civil 3D 2016 might be missing after deploying the software through or other deployment tools.

Following script could help to fix this issue for all the users logging into the machine after deploying the software as System account.

Please use this script to deploy through SCCM instead of the single setup.exe command line.
