If you have AutoCAD 2012 and a Building Design Suite 2012 on your license server, it's best to install AutoCAD 2012 from the Building Design Suite Package to all of your workstations. We had discussed this problem and solution in a previous post:
Basically, AutoCAD 2012 and AutoCAD 2012 in the Building Design Suite are not exactly the same. The one in the Building Suite is slightly newer because is has some upgraded licensing components that affects license cascading.

Is the _VERNUM value the same for the two?

Yes. I am sorry for the delay but the _VERNUM is the same for both AutoCAD's.
