AutoCAD 2012: Server Service and Lockup (Freeze)

Recently, one of my co-workers mentioned that the Server Service must be enabled or AutoCAD 2012 will lockup or freeze.  The post is here:

This sparked an old issue in AutoCAD 2011 that was hard to reproduce with other users but I was able to get a video of it last year.
