Maya 2012 on Mac: Maya Core doesn't install

We get this occassionally and it typically happens when you are trying to install Maya on Mac OS 10.x that isn't supported.  

For example, Maya 2009 was released in 2008 and it was only certified on 10.5.4.  If you try to install it on 10.6 or higher, the installer may fail because it doesn't know about 10.6.x.

In some instances, you can resolve this issue by using this 3rd party program to force it to install.  This will work with all applications on the Mac.
